Tamaskan dog is the breed more like a wolf, but there is nothing in it from the wolf. The breeding work started in Finland in the 1980s. Breeders had set a goal to bring the dog to the exterior of the wolf, to keep all the positive qualities of the dog. The dog has turned universal. Tamaskan dog is larger than husky, but less than the Malamute. Northern intuity was involved in the breeding of Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, German Shepherds, Huskies of the Finnish Hound. Each dog was carefully chosen according to the appearance, temperament, character and health.

The first recorded litter was born in 2002. The breed has spread around the world. By 2012, 3,000 litters were registered but were not recognized by the FCI.
